It's been a busy week for us at Rise Up! On Wednesday, we had an amazing meeting discussing housing goals for the city of Kingston. We were excited to have folks there from the Kingston Land Trust! We're having another meeting soon, look below for the information!
Lisa & I also attended the Hannah Arendt Conference on Citizenship & Civil Disobedience,where we heard from so many incredible speakers, and I was part of a Roundtable on "Civil Resistance". Last thing - From November 25th to December 8th, we will have our First Grassroots Fundraising It will allow us to develop resources to build a powerful base of directly impacted people in Kingston and begin building long-term relationships with donors to support the sustainability of our work. Join us as we continue the conversation about Reparations and our history. During this community conversation, you will be given the opportunity to have discussions with our friends and neighbors.
Through facilitated small group conversations, everyone’s voice will be heard as we tackle this conversation together.We encourage everyone to participate, even if the idea of reparations makes you uncomfortable.

At these meetings, we come together get updates, discuss and strategize issues that we're working on. This month, we're going to be discussing updates on police reform, and continue on our campaign for police accountability.

This will be a participatory forum for discussing how to make our community safer. We are going to look closely at and think about ideas to strengthen training, selection of members, and direction. You will have an opportunity to hear from members of the Common Council and RiseUp Kingston, learn about different Police Commission Models, and voice your opinion on how we can make our communities safer.
